Lifelong learning is the key to modern society development. The world is changing so fast that we all need to learn something new every day. It is not enough to work hard on your job, you should work hard on yourself. To be in demand on the labour market you need to improve your skills in different areas - even those that are completely unrelated to the main job.
Among a great number of fee-paying educational services there are also free ones that make continuing education available for everyone. One of them is BELL project – Enhancement of Lifelong Learning in Belarus co-funded by the European Union and held at Polotsk State University together with European and regional institutions.
Polotsk State University offers free distance training courses in five popular areas:
- English (teacher – Olga Zhuravskaya, Head of the Centre for Foreign Languages Study)
- Information Security (teacher – Alexey Burachyonok, Head of the IT Centre)
- Legal Literacy (teacher – Kristina Savitskaya, a senior lecturer at the Department of Civil Law)
- Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy (teacher – Alexander Yemelyanov, Head of the Department for Postgraduate Education)
- Energy and Resource Saving (teacher – Dmitry Antonovich, Head of the Department of Energy Engineering and Electronics).
Everyone who wants can become a participant of the project. On November 5, 2019 an Information Day was held at Polotsk State University. Among the speakers were Project supervisor Irina Pozdnyakova, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Economics, Project Manager Sergey Boslovyak, Head of the Department of Pipeline Transport and Hydraulics, and course lecturers.
The speakers presented the distance training courses, spoke about academic content and features of blended learning and answered all questions.
New knowledge is new horizons and career opportunities. BELL project makes them available for everybody.
