DIFFICULTIES WITH THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE?
You can prepare for studies at the university at the PSU Preparatory Department, which provides such courses as Russian language courses and preparatory ones.
After 10 months of studying, you will:
  • improve the level of proficiency in the Russian language, pass entrance exams, and continue studying in Russian according to your program
  • learn additional subjects (mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, foreign languages) to prepare for your program
  • get a certificate which is necessary for entering the university for the first academic year
You can also enter Russian language courses which can be organized in groups or individually.

How to enter

STEP 1. CHOOSE A STUDY PROGRAM
There are more than 40 programs you can enter.
 
STEP 2. PREPARE THE DOCUMENTS
  • studying application form
  • a national passport and migration card
  • the document proving your education (including a transcript of grades)
  • a copy of the Birth Certificate
  • 6 photos (3x4 cm size)
  • the certificate on the completion of any university preparation courses (if applicable)
  • the following medical documents:
    • medical report on the health status, confirming the ability of performing studies in Belarus
    • the original of medical certificate, including the AIDS certificate
All the documents that are in foreign languages should have a notarised translation into the Russian language.
 
STEP 3. GET A VISA
For admission to Polotsk State University, you need to prepare the following documents for your arrival at the Republic of Belarus.
The list of documents you need:
  • an official invitation for studies (you need to contact us and send a copy of your passport, the document proving your education and filled-in form)
  • get a student visa in the consulate of the Republic of Belarus in your country
 
STEP 4. PASS AN INTERVIEW AT PSU
For entering Polotsk State University it is necessary to pass an interview to assess the Russian proficiency level. The date and place of the interview you’ll be able to know after the arrival at the Center for Teaching Foreign Citizens.

Principles of the educational process

Foreign citizens, including the citizens of the People's Republic of China, studying at the second stage of higher education at Polotsk State University are guaranteed to get a high quality training based on the following principles of the educational process:
  • the most qualified scientists and teachers from among the teaching staff of the University are involved in the educational process and supervision of the Master's thesis for foreign citizens. Academic staff working with foreign citizens has a sufficient level of English proficiency
  • annually by the beginning of the academic year all educational materials together with program documentation (including English language resources) are reviewed and updated considering the specifics of foreign citizens training. Appropriate additions and changes are introduced to the syllabus as well
  • graduate student and their supervisor choose a Master's thesis topic according to the scientific interests and characteristics of the professional activity of a foreign citizen in the country of their permanent residence
  • the scientific and methodological support of the educational process is carried out on regular basis. Each academic discipline (e-learning course) of the curriculum is included into the e-learning system administered by PSU academic staff. The e-learning course is divided into modules. Each module contains: study materials (texts and lecture presentations, articles, videos); mandatory tasks (skills simulators, cases, creative tasks, projects, laboratory research, guidelines for self-study); knowledge control (surveys, tests, projects and laboratory research defense)
  • the scientific library of Polotsk State University provides access to the University and external information resources necessary both for the organization of training and research activities for the preparation of a Master's thesis
  • during the educational process each foreign citizen is paid an individual attention, including the possibility to have additional supervision. Foreign citizens have the possibility of unlimited communication with their teachers via email, chat or forum based on Microsoft Teams platform

Required application documents for foreign citizens

  • degree certificate (diploma of higher education) including academic transcript
  • copy of passport
  • medical documents (certificate of absence of HIV-infection; medical certificate of the absence of medical contraindications for studying in the Republic of Belarus)

Documents provided in a foreign language must have a notarized translation into Russian.

Enrollment

Enrollment to Master's Degree Program of Polotsk State University is based on the results of the interview. It is necessary to pass an interview to assess the required proficiency level in the language of chosen Program (English or Russian). There is also an additional interview on the content of the chosen Program.

Russia language courses

Polotsk State University offers Russian language courses for foreign citizens. You can study Russian in groups (6-10 people) or individually. The groups are formed considering the Russian language proficiency. On completing studies, students pass an exam showing their Russian language proficiency. Those who successfully pass the exam, acquire the certificate. It allows them to continue their studies at any higher educational institution in Belarus, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation.
At Polotsk State University, we created a committee for international students. The purpose of the committee is to help all the international students studying at PSU.

The international student committee is a student’s self-governing body aimed at realizing the students’ rights to participate in the study process, making important decisions concerning the student lives, developing their social activities, supporting and actualizing social initiatives.

Foreign students tell about university

1. Do I have to pass any entrance exams?

No, you don’t. Foreign citizens pass an interview to assess the Russian proficiency level. You DO have to pass an extra exam ONLY if you enter a creative speciality.

2. Which documents do I need to enter the 1st step of education (bachelor’s degree)?

Passport, the original document proving secondary education (or bachelor’s diploma for entering master study), copy of the birth certificate, medical report on the health status, AIDS certificate, 6 photos (3x4 cm size). All the originals that are in foreign languages should have a notarised translation into the Russian language.

3. How much does the study cost?

The cost of the 1st step of education is 2300 USD per year. The 2nd step costs 2500 USD. Preparatory section costs 1800 USD for the whole course.

4. Can I get an education discount?

Yes, you can. The discounts are given for outstanding academic performance, scientific activity, or active participation in university life. The discounts can reach 60%.

5. How to get an invitation for studies?

To get the invitation, you have to send the documents to the university (the same pack needed for the entrance). The approval takes 7 days. After that, the invitation is sent to the consulate of the Republic of Belarus in your country. Then you can make a free study visa there.

6. Can I have studies in English?

Yes, you can. The language of studies depends on the speciality you choose.

7. Do I get a dormitory? What about the living costs?

All the international students get the dormitory. The costs are 40-50 USD depending on the type of dormitory.

The core of the studying process is learning Russian together with the subjects of the program chosen. The three major directions are:
  • humanities
  • economics
  • engineering

At the end of studies, students pass the Russian proficiency test as well as the exam in the major subject. Those who successfully pass the exams and complete the training program, acquire the certificate allowing them to continue their studies at any higher educational institution in Belarus, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation.
